Southern Utah is a place of natural beauty and outdoor adventure. Zion National Park

Zion National Park is a natural gem located in the southwestern part of Utah. It is known for its beautiful red and orange sandstone cliffs, lush green valleys, and cascading waterfalls. The park is home to a wide variety of plant and animal life, and it offers visitors a chance to explore some of the most breathtaking natural landscapes in the world.

One of the reasons why we love living near Zion National Park is the abundance of outdoor recreational opportunities available in the area. Hiking, rock climbing, canyoneering, camping, and cycling are just a few of the popular activities that visitors can enjoy. The park offers a wide variety of trails that range in difficulty, making it a great destination for hikers and backpackers of all skill levels. 

Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park in southern Utah is a unique and spectacular destination that offers a wide range of outdoor activities for visitors. The park is famous for its hoodoos, which are tall, spire-shaped rock formations that have been created by millions of years of erosion. These hoodoos, along with other geological features, provide a breathtaking backdrop for hiking, camping, and sightseeing.

One of the major draws of Bryce Canyon is its numerous hiking trails, which range from easy, paved paths to challenging backcountry routes. These trails offer visitors the opportunity to explore the hoodoos and other geological formations up close, and to take in the stunning views of the park from various vantage points.

All in all, Bryce Canyon National Park offers a unique and diverse range of activities for visitors to enjoy, making it an excellent destination for those who love nature, culture, and outdoor activities.

Sand Hollow State Park

Sand Hollow State Park is a beautiful park in southern Utah that offers a wide variety of outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. One of the park’s most popular features is the Sand Hollow Reservoir, which is a great spot for swimming, boating, and fishing. The park also has a 60-site campground, as well as several picnic areas, and several hiking trails that offer stunning views of the surrounding red rock landscape.

The park is also home to the Sand Hollow OHV area, which is a popular spot for off-road vehicle riding and sandboarding. The sand dunes are popular spot for photography and in the right season it’s possible to enjoy hot air balloon rides over the dunes. Near the park you can rent out RZRs, Slingshots, boats, jet skis, paddleboards, and kayaks, making it easy to experience the area however you would like.

Quail Creek State Park

Quail Creek State Park is another beautiful state park in southern Utah, offering visitors the chance to explore the red rock landscape while enjoying activities such as camping, picnicking, and boating. The park is also home to a 60-acre fishing reservoir that is stocked with rainbow trout and bass, making it a popular spot for fishing.

Several hiking trails and picnic areas are located around the reservoir, and the park also features a campground with 24 campsites. The campground includes nine partial hook-up sites, 13 standard sites, one day-use area, and one large group site. Visitors can also rent out kayaks, paddleboards, and pedal boats to explore the reservoir. The park is an excellent spot for swimming and sunbathing, offering a chance to cool off from the summer heat in the clean water of the reservoir.

Snow Canyon State Park

Snow Canyon State Park is located just north of St. George, UT and it’s known for its unique combination of red and white sandstone cliffs and the beauty of the desert. The park offers a variety of recreational opportunities, including hiking, picnicking, and camping. There are several hiking trails that lead visitors through the canyons and over the hills of the park, and each trail offers its own unique views of the landscape.

The park also has a unique desert ecosystem, home to several species of plants and animals, such as desert tortoises and the endangered greater sage-grouse. Additionally, the park features a campground that has 16 partial hook-up sites, 13 standard sites, two standard group sites, one group day-use site, and there are also several picnic areas scattered throughout the park. The park also offers ranger-led tours which are a great way to learn more about the park’s natural and cultural history.

OUR STAFF FAVORITE HIKES

Red Reef Trailhead

This is a mild up-and-back hike that can be as long or as short as you like. It is filled with fun side canyons to explore as well as several pools of water that are fun for all ages.

Three Falls Trailhead

A winding trail will take you through one of Southern Utah's more unique canyons. The falls are largely dependent on rainfall, so much of the year this is a dry hike. The views are incredible regardless.
